September 2019-TLC Building Fund

Some might wonder, "Can a church building fund be a mission?" The answer is "Yes."

In Exodus, even before the people of Israel came to the Promised Land for the first time, God gave Moses a command in Exodus thirty-five, "Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, 'This is the thing that the LORD has commanded. Take from among you a contribution to the LORD. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the LORD's contribution...' (Exodus 35:4-5a)" From there, the verse goes on to list all that's needed to make the Tent of Meeting, also known as the Tabernacle.

And how did the people of God respond? "And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the LORD's contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart... (Exodus 21-22a)"

The fact is, what the church facility looks like can draw and also distract people from attending that church, and therefore whether they hear God's Word. We have done many great things recently to our church, but there is still lots more that can be done! Plus, there will always be regular maintenance items that need taken care of. Any future projects or maintenance needs will have to be funded either out of remaining budget or by special offerings. This Church Building Fund will help to get ahead of the need.

But there's good news! In Exodus, the people gave so much "Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp, 'Let no man or woman do anything more for the contribution for the sanctuary. ' So the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work, and more. (Exodus 36:6-7)"

Will you help? September's Mission of the Month is for the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.
